Tripathi: Enjoyed a lot, and knew winning against KKR was special. I did expect the ball to be pitched up, and it was up, so I went ahead with the shot. It’s been very special with KKR, and now with the Sunrisers, the first few games have gone nicely. There are days when it gets tough, but on the good days, I look to enjoy every moment.

Kane Williamson: It was a step up. Kolkata keep coming hard. It was a competitive total and then a little bit of dew came in. The death bowling was superb too. What a knock this has been from the South African, who has smashed five fours and two sixes so far and forged a brilliant 94-run third-wicket stand with Tripathi. Tripathi’s exit makes little difference to KKR’s hopes of mounting a late comeback as Markram smashes Chakravarthy, who replaces Yadav, for a four and a six off consecutive balls to inch closer to his half-century. 13 from the over, with the Sunrisers going past the 150-mark in this over. Less than a run-a-ball now for the Sunrisers, who need 23 off the last 24.

The ball beats both Pooran and keeper Jackson to run away for four byes in the last ball, adding to the Knight Riders’ misery. 13 from the over. SRH need 36 off 30 with seven wickets in hand.

Tripathi had collected his sixth maximum in the previous delivery, and was looking to make it back-to-back hits over the fence. Except he didn't quite time this one, and Venkatesh Iyer was eagerly waiting in front of the boundary to gobble this up. SRH 133/3

Umesh returns to the attack on the other side of the interval. Umesh starts off on a tidy note, conceding two singles in the first three balls, before Markram collects a hat-trick of fours to push SRH’s run rate past nine, with the asking rate a little above eight-an-over. The first boundary though, was a streaky one as Markram got a top-edge that nearly resulted in a catch for keeper Jackson near short fine. SRH need 49 off 36.

Excellent over from Narine against the run of play, conceding just four from it. Umesh Yadav is nearly run out at the non-striker’s end while scrambling for a risky single in the second. Russell turns down the single after drilling the ball towards long off, and is justified in his decision with back-to-back sixes in the fourth and fifth deliveries followed by a boundary in the final ball of the innings, remaining unbeaten on 49.

A brace and a leg bye added to the Kolkata total in the first two balls before the senior India medium-pacer removes Cummins in the third delivery, the latter perishing after getting a thick bottom edge off a slower ball. Aman Khan, the other KKR debutant, is off the mark in style as he collects his first runs in the IPL with a  boundary, steering a length ball towards the extra cover fence. Collects a single next ball before Bhuvi ends his spell with an inch-perfect yorker to Dre Russ. Eight runs and a wicket from the over. One more to go in the innings.

Pat Cummins walks in next and miscues the ball towards deep square leg for a single before Russell muscles the ball towards the midwicket boundary to collect another boundary for himself. A single and a brace off the last two balls, as Kolkata breach the 150-mark in this over.

He does find himself in the wickets column in the final ball of the over as he castles Shreyas Iyer with an inch-perfect yorker, the Kolkata captain departing after getting off to a promising start.
