India vs Australia Live Score Updates 3rd Test Day 1: Gill likely to replace Rahul; India eye WTC final spot
08:42 (IST)
IND vs AUS LIVE
Will Gill replace KL Rahul?
India captain Rohit Sharma did not reveal anything yesterday.
“As far as 11 is concerned, I would like to do it at the toss. I prefer it that way considering last minute injuries are a possibility,” he said.

IND vs AUS LIVE
Smith to captain Australia
Steve Smith will be captaining Australia in Indore Test in the absence of Pat Cummins who has flown back home due to her mother's illness. Smith was also the captain when Australia toured India in four Tests in 2017. There's no news on whether Cummins will return for the fourth Test.
08:32 (IST)
WTC final spot on te line
All India need to secure a spot in the final of WTC final is to win the Indore Test. One more Test victory will push India into the final while Australia will get a direct pass if they manage to avoid a defeat in thrid or fourth Test.
08:24 (IST)
Welcome to our LIVE coverage of the third Test between India and Australia which starts today in Indore. With a victory in Indore, India will not only clinch the four-match series but also earn a spot in the WTC final which is scheduled for July this year. Big game coming up and we will be bringing everything live. Stay tuned for the latest updates...
India vs Australia 3rd Test preview: India will have an eye on the spot in the World Test Championship final when they take on Australia in the third Test at Indore which starts on 1 March. Having already won the first two matches and retained the Border-Gavaksar Trophy, it’s also an opportunity for India to capture the four-Test series. Winning the series with the Ahmedabad match to go, India would be able to focus on preparing for the WTC final in the fourth Test.
Both the matches so far in the series, in Nagpur and Indore, finished inside three days each with Indian spinners ruling the proceedings. It’s to be seen if Indore presents a similar track that assists spinners. Yet, despite the nature of the pitch, India may still be forced to make a change given the poor form of KL Rahul. The opener was removed as vice captain but was retained in the squad for Indore and Ahmedabad Tests. He has only scored 38 runs in three innings so far in the Test series and could make way for Shubman Gill who has been in great form in ODIs and T20Is since the start of the year.
IND vs AUS: Live streaming details
India captain Rohit Sharma, however, was in no mood to give away his playing XI for the Indore Test.
“I spoke about it after the last game as well. Players who are going through a tough time, given their potential they will be given enough time to prove themselves,” Rohit said in a media interaction ahead of the match. “Being vice captain or otherwise doesn’t tell you anything. At that point in time he was the vice captain. His removal as vice captain doesn’t indicate anything.”
“As far as 11 is concerned, I would like to do it at the toss. I prefer it that way considering last minute injuries are a possibility.”
Apart from Rahul, India are not expected to make any changes to their side.
Australia, on the other hand, will be making a few changes. Skipper Pat Cummins has gone back home due to his mother’s illness and opener David Warner is out injured. Mitchell Starc is expected to play his first match of the series, while Travis Head is expected to open in place of Warner.
IND vs AUS: Kasprowicz wants Australia to play three pacers in Indore
The sweep shot led to the downfall of multiple Aussie batters in Delhi, but stand-in skipper Smith backed his teammates to continue playing the shot.
“Delhi was probably a difficult place to play the sweep with the variable bounce, more than anything else. A couple of us (including Smith) went away from our plans. That was disappointing.
“For a few players, the sweep is a very productive shot. They have got to stick to it a 100 percent. If they are going to play it, they’ve to commit to it a 100 percent,” he said.
Smith also revealed his plan to put Indian spinners under pressure.
“For us, it’s about sticking to our plans and methods for long periods of time. In the second innings in Delhi, a lot of us went away from our plans and got undone by them.
“We can hopefully apply pressure on the spinners and post good totals on the board. That’s key for us. Hopefully, we can put that into practice in the middle and execute under pressure,” said Smith.
India will seal a WTC final spot with a win in Indore.
Squad:
Australia: Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Matt Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Lance Morris, Todd Murphy, Matthew Renshaw, Steve Smith (captain), Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Swepson.
India: Rohit Sharma (c), KL Rahul (vc), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat, Ishan Kishan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Suryakumar Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat.

LIVE Cricket Score, New Zealand vs England, 2nd Test Day 3 in Wellington
Day 2 recap: For the second day in a row rain came to New Zealand’s rescue in the second cricket test, saving it from an even greater mauling by England.
On the first day the rain came after only 65 overs when England already was 315-3. With Harry Brook making 186 and Joe Root an unbeaten 153 in a 302-run partnership, England was able to declare its first innings at 435-8.
And when the rain came again on Saturday not long after tea, New Zealand was 138-7, still 297 behind. Tom Blundell was 25 and Tim Southee on 23.
James Anderson with 3-37 and Jack Leach with 3-45 wrecked the New Zealand first innings and sent the home team to the locker room in a light shower, welcoming the chance of a reprieve.
Brook dominated New Zealand on the first day and was 184 — his highest test score and fourth century in five tests — when the rain came on the first day. Root was 101.

LIVE Cricket Score, New Zealand vs England, 2nd Test Day 2 in Wellington
Day 1 report: Red-hot Harry Brook made a majestic 184 not out to put England firmly in control against New Zealand in the second Test in Wellington on Friday.
Joe Root was also unbeaten on a classy 101 as the tourists blazed their way to 315-3 before rain ended the opening day of the series decider early.
Brook’s breathtaking display at the Basin Reserve made him the first player to score 800 or more runs in his first nine Test innings.
The 24-year-old came to the crease with England wobbling at 21-3 inside the first seven overs.
It then became the Brook show as he took his Test average to just over 100 in only his sixth match. He has four tons already.
Brook rated his Wellington knock as the best of his fledgling Test career given England’s precarious situation when he came in to bat.
“We lost three early wickets, which isn’t ideal, but then I came out and tried to counter-punch a bit and be as positive as we could be. Thankfully it came off,” said Brook.
New Zealand won the toss and elected to bowl on a green wicket.
That decision paid instant reward as the hosts quickly tore through England’s top order of Zak Crawley (two), Ben Duckett (nine) and Ollie Pope (10).
Matt Henry and skipper Tim Southee did the early damage for the hosts under blue skies.
Henry, back after missing the first Test with the birth of his child, forced Crawley into being caught behind as the opener’s sticky run continued.
All-rounder Michael Bracewell then made two superb catches in the slips to first dismiss Pope, then Duckett.
The removal of Duckett following Bracewell’s diving catch gave Southee a 700th international wicket in all formats, becoming the first New Zealander to reach the milestone.
Teams:
New Zealand: Tom Latham, Devon Conway, Kane Williamson, Will Young, Henry Nicholls, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Blundell (wk), Michael Bracewell, Tim Southee (c), Matt Henry, Neil Wagner
England: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Ben Foakes (wk), Ollie Robinson, Stuart Broad, Jack Leach, James Anderson

T20 World Cup 2023: 'History made!', Twitterati hail South Africa's thrilling semi-final win against England
Cape Town: Tazmin Brits and Ayabonga Khaka inspired a shock six-run victory for South Africa against England in their Women’s T20 World Cup semi-final at Newlands in Cape Town on Friday.
Brits hit 68 in a South African total of 164 for four, then held four catches, two of them exceptional, as England were restricted to 158 for eight.
South Africa will meet defending champions and heavy favourites Australia in the final at the same venue on Sunday.
Medium-pace bowler Khaka took three wickets in the 18th over to put the target just beyond England’s reach.
“Khaka is a phenomenal bowler, one of the best in the world. She showed her class today,” said South Africa skipper Sune Luus.
England captain Heather Knight admitted it had been a “brilliant game of cricket”.
“We did well to take it close. They bowled straight lines and made it tough for us,” said Knight whose team had made the semi-finals by winning all four group games.
Fast bowler Shabnim Ismail made the first two breakthroughs after England made a fast start, then bowled Knight in the final over to snuff out England’s last hope.
Laura Wolvaardt and Brits launched South Africa’s best batting performance of the tournament.
They followed up their unbeaten century opening stand in the last group match against Bangladesh by putting on 96 for the first wicket in 13.4 overs.
The victory over the more fancied English side, naturally, led to a barrage of reactions on social media. Here we take a look at select tweets, especially from the South African cricket fraternity:

WPL: BCCI unveils partners for Women's Premier League after announcing Tata as title sponsor
The BCCI on Friday made further announcements on the Women’s Premier League ahead of its inaugural edition in March, announcing the league partners days after unveiling Tata Group as the title sponsor.
According to a press release shared on Friday, the BCCI has signed Dream11, CEAT Tyres and Amul as the tournament partners for the first three seasons from 2023 to 2025.
“There is rising interest in the inaugural edition of the TATA Women’s Premier League. New partners coming on board is a testament to the quality and popularity that the tournament is set to garner amongst the fans and other stakeholders.
“We are sure that the league will provide ample opportunities for players to showcase their class and talent. We thank all the partners for their support as we look forward to a fruitful inaugural edition of the TATA Women’s Premier League,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah was quoted as saying in the release.
While the partners have been signed for three seasons, the Tata Group have bagged the title sponsorship rights for a period of five years, though the BCCI did not reveal the exact amount behind the deal.
The Tata Group also holds the title sponsorship rights for the Indian Premier League, filling in for Vivo for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
Viacom18 had earlier bagged the broadcast rights — both television and digital — on a five-year deal worth Rs 951 crore. Additionally, the BCCI also sold the five participating franchises for a total sum of Rs 4,669 crore, making the WPL the second-most valuable T20 league in the world after the IPL.
The player auction had also taken place earlier this month, in which swashbuckling Indian opener Smriti Mandhana fetched the highest bid of Rs 3.4 crore from the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

'Next World Cup will be ours': India, Harmanpreet earn praise on Twitter after Australia survive nailbiter
Australia reached their seventh successive Women’s T20 World Cup final when a thrilling Indian run chase fell agonisingly short at Newlands on Thursday. Australia won by five runs when India finished on 167 for eight in reply to Australia’s 172 for four.
Australia will face either England or South Africa in Sunday’s final.
India batted with aggressive intent from the first ball and for much of the innings were ahead of Australia’s total at the equivalent stage despite losing three wickets in the six-over power play.
The match turned dramatically when India captain Harmanpreet Kaur was run out with just 40 runs needed off 32 balls.
Kaur batted superbly to make 52 off 34 balls. She hit a ball to deep midwicket and seemed set to complete a comfortable two runs only for her bat to jab into the turf just short of the crease. Kaur threw her bat angrily as she walked off.
Big-hitting Richa Ghosh was caught on the boundary off Darcie Brown in the next over and India’s hopes were effectively over, although Deepti Sharma kept swinging until the end, making 20 not out.
Despite India’s heartbreaking defeat, Twitter was full of praise for the team and captain Harmanpreet as they gave a massive scare to the defending champions. Here are the best reactions:
Tough luck Team India. #HarmanpreetKaur & #JemimahRodrigues looked like taking the game away but the Aussies fought back brilliantly & in the end India have fallen short. Harmanpreet’s runout was the turning point & India will be disappointed to miss out on the finals. #INDWvAUSW pic.twitter.com/RY06QHDrE0

Toss update: England women won the toss and opted to bat first against Pakistan.
Playing XI
England: Sophia Dunkley, Danielle Wyatt, Alice Capsey, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Heather Knight (c), Amy Jones (wk), Sophie Ecclestone, Katherine Sciver-Brunt, Charlotte Dean, Sarah Glenn, Freya Davies
Pakistan: Sadaf Shamas, Muneeba Ali, Omaima Sohail, Nida Dar (c), Aliya Riaz, Sidra Ameen, Fatima Sana, Sidra Nawaz (wk), Nashra Sandhu, Tuba Hassan, Sadia Iqbal
Preview: England women, led by Heather Knight, take on already-eliminated Pakistan in a group match of the T20 World Cup 2023 in Cape Town on Tuesday.
England are unbeaten in the group stage so far, and had qualified for the semi-finals from Group 2 with three wins in as many points, and a win on Tuesday will see them finish as group winners.
India (six points) are the other team to have qualified from the group, after their five-run win (DLS method) over Ireland in a rain-affected match on Monday.
Pakistan began their campaign with a seven-wicket defeat to India, before reviving their hopes with a win over Ireland in their second match. However, they fell short to West Indies by three runs in their third match, a defeat that put their qualification hopes in jeopardy.

India vs Australia: Hosts get break before 3rd Test, to reach Indore on 25 February
Delhi: Most of the Indian players headed home after the second Test in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia ended inside three days. The entire team visited the Pradhanmantri Sanghralaya in New Delhi after a thumping win to take a 2-0 lead in the four-Test series.

While the Australian team left the venue early, Indian players stayed back and the team bus left the stadium around 4 pm. Plenty of spectators stayed back to get a close look of their heroes and madness unfolded when the team bus navigated through the narrow lane connecting the stadium to the main road.

Rohit Sharma-led unit will now assemble in Indore for the third Test, scheduled for 1 March, on 25 February and the first practice session will take place the subsequent day. The same has been informed to MPCA (Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association), the association hosting the game which was moved from Dharamsala earlier this month, and they have initiated necessary arrangements.
Batter Shreyas Iyer reached Mumbai on 20 February morning and his Instagram posts suggest former India coach Ravi Shastri, now on commentary duties, travelled back with him.
News from the Australian camp, however, is not pleasant as captain Pat Cummins has rushed back home due to a family health issue and teammate Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the series. David Warner is still recovering from the elbow injury and went sightseeing with family in New Delhi.
The belligerent opener had a torrid time in the first two Tests and didn’t come out to bat in the second innings of the Delhi Test due to the blows he took in the first innings.

Trailing the series 0-2, Australia have a lot of work to do and would like to press the reset button during this break ahead of the third Test of the series. The visitors have looked all at sea in the series so far and need to put up a solid show with the bat to compete in the series.
Mitchell Starc joined the team in New Delhi and should be available for selection for the Indore Test. Cameron Green, who missed the first two Tests with injury, is likely to be 100% before the action gets underway on 1 March.
Like Nagpur and Delhi, Indore will be another trial by spin for the visiting Aussies and they need to find better ways than pre-meditated sweeping to counter R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel.

Pat Cummins returns to Australia due to family illness: Report
Australia captain Pat Cummins left for home after the second Test defeat against India in Delhi on Sunday due to a family health issue, ESPNCricinfo reported. Cummins is expected to return before the third Test that starts on 1 March in Indore.
India have already secured a 2-0 lead in the four-match Test series having won the first two matches. They won the Nagpur Test by an innings and 132 runs besides clinching the Delhi match by six wickets.

Just in case Cummins fails to return in time for the Indore Test, vice-captain Steve Smith will captain the Australian side. Smith slotted in as a replacement for skipper Cummins during Adelaide Test in the 2021-22 series after the pacer had to withdraw due to being a close COVID-19 contact and also last year against West Indies at the same venue when Cummins was out due to injury.
As far as fast bowling is concerned, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood are expected to be fit for the third Test while Scott Boland and Lance Morris are also part of the squad. All-rounder Cameron Green is also expected to be fit for Indore Test.

Cummins, during the post-match presentation ceremony of the Delhi Test, came down heavily on his Australia side for letting the opportunity to level the series slip despite being ahead in the match.
“Disappointed, we were ahead of the game but we slipped. We need a review on what could have been done different,” Cummins had said during the post-match presentation ceremony.
“Everyone controls their own game, some balls just have your name. But we need a review on the shot choice, did we do things right? Both games were disappointing, this one in particular. We were ahead in the game and that doesn’t happen often in India. This loss hurts.”

New Zealand vs England Live Cricket Score, 1st Test Day 3 in Mount Mount Maunganui
Day 2 Report: Tom Blundell completed a defiant late order century as the Black Caps’ last man at the crease Friday to further New Zealand’s fightback on the second day of the first cricket Test against England.
Batting at No. 7, Blundell was 82 when New Zealand’s ninth wicket fell and he was joined at the crease by No. 11 Blair Tickner, a lanky, moustachoed fast bowler on Test debut with a first class batting average of 10.
Summing up the situation, Blundell hit the accelerator and struck 6, 4 and 4 from the bowling of spinner Jack Leach to move to 96. As Blundell watched nervously, Tickner played out an over from Ollie Robinson before Blundell twice worked the ball for two off Leach to complete his fourth Test century.
He was undaunted, even when England took the second new ball just as the floodlights kicked in at Bay Oval in the day-night match. Blundell went on to 138 before he was the last man out. Tickner played a brave debut innings of 3 from 24 balls and New Zealand finished at 306, just 19 runs behind England’s 325-9 declared.
“I came out in a difficult situation and it was nice to come out with Devon Conway,” Blundell said. “I actually didn’t say too much to Tickner. He took it on himself and batted very nicely and did a great job.”
As England batted again under lights, Tickner made a vital breakthrough, dismissing Ben Duckett for 25 to end his imposing first innings of 84 from 68 balls. Blundell then caught Zac Crawley (28) off Scott Kuggeleijn and at stumps England was 79-2, leading by 98 runs with Ollie Pope 14 not out and Stuart Broad 6.

IPL 2023 Schedule: Date, Time, Venues and Match List
The Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday unveiled the schedule for the 16th edition of the cash-rich league, with defending champions Gujarat Titans taking on Chennai Super Kings in the opening game on 31 March.
The Titans begin their title defence at their home venue of the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where they had defeated Rajasthan Royals in last year’s final to emerge triumphant in their debut season.
After the GT-CSK clash will be followed by consecutive double-headers; Punjab Kings take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the afternoon clash on 1 April followed by the Lucknow Super Giants vs Delhi Capitals clash. Sunrisers Hyderabad then face Rajasthan Royals in the first game on 2 April, with five-time champions Mumbai Indians taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the evening fixture.
Unlike last season, each team will play the five teams of the other group twice and the other four from their own group once, making it 14 league games per team.
A total of 70 matches will be played over the course of the group stage across 52 days, with 12 venues selected by the BCCI for hosting matches, including Guwahati and Dharamsala that will host two home games for Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings respectively. While Dharamsala has hosted Punjab’s home games in the past, Guwahati is set to make its IPL debut this year.
Additionally, the 2023 season also marks the first time in four years that the tournament returns to the traditional home-and-away format. While the delayed 2020 season was played entirely in the UAE, the 2021 season was split between India and the Gulf nation. Mumbai and Pune had hosted the group stage of the 2022 season, with the playoffs taking place in Ahmedabad and Kolkata.

LIVE Cricket Score, West Indies vs Ireland, T20 World Cup, Match 13 in Cape Town
Toss: Ireland won the toss and chose to bat in their T20 World Cup Group 2 clash against West Indies at Cape Town’s Newlands in the second clash of the Friday double-header.
Both sides enter this game seeking their first win of the tournament, making the 13th match of the tournament an eliminator of sorts, given the losing side will have next to no chance of finishing among the top two in their group.
West Indies suffered a six-wicket defeat against India in their previous outing on Wednesday while Ireland suffered a 70-run rout against Pakistan the same day.
Windies made as many as three changes to their lineup for this game, with veteran batter and former captain Stafanie Taylor a notable absence from the XI. Taylor had to be stretchered off during India’s chase on Wednesday. Chedean Nation and Shakera Selman were the other players benched for this game, with Zaida James, Trishan Holder and Aaliyah Alleyne taking up their spots.
Ireland, meanwhile, announced an unchanged XI for this game.
Teams:
West Indies: Hayley Matthews(c), Shemaine Campbelle, Chinelle Henry, Zaida James, Rashada Williams(w), Shabika Gajnabi, Aaliyah Alleyne, Trishan Holder, Afy Fletcher, Shamilia Connell, Karishma Ramharack
Ireland: Amy Hunter, Gaby Lewis, Orla Prendergast, Laura Delany(c), Eimear Richardson, Louise Little, Mary Waldron(w), Leah Paul, Arlene Kelly, Cara Murray, Jane Maguire

New Zealand vs England Live Cricket Score, 1st Test Day 2 in Mount Maunganui
New Zealand vs England 1st Test Day 1 Report: Dramatic lightning flashes around Bay Oval echoed lightning innings by Ben Duckett and Harry Brook which allowed England to declare at 325-9 with time to spare Thursday on the first day of the first, day-night cricket test against New Zealand.
While thick black thunderclouds sometimes glowered over the ground, no rain fell England while was driven along at more than 5.5 runs per over by the propulsive innings of Duckett, who made 84 from 68 balls in the first session, and Brook, who posted 89 from 80 balls.
The declaration after only 58.2 overs and with 85 minutes left in the day gave the bowlers time to fortify England’s position and they did so with the wickets of Tom Latham, Kane Williamson (6) and Henry Nicholls (4). Devon Conway (19) held on to stumps when New Zealand was 37-3.
James Anderson took 2-10 from seven overs in an outstanding spell in the late evening which drove home England’s advantage.

India vs Australia LIVE Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Pujara set for landmark 100th Test as hosts look to double lead
08:30 (IST)
Hello and welcome to our LIVE coverage of the second Test between India and Australia in Delhi. The hosts will look to double their series lead after coming out on top in Nagpur. Stay tuned for more updates as we build up towards the match.
Preview: Rohit Sharma-led India take on visitors Australia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi as the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy gets underway on Friday.
India scripted a comfortable innings victory in Nagpur in the first Test of the series last week, and Australia will hope to script some sort of fightback in the national capital to level the series 1-1.
Indian spinners dominated the proceedings in Nagpur, with R Ashwin scalping eight wickets while Ravindra Jadeja picked seven wickets on his return to international cricket from injury.
India had gained a lead of 223 runs after posting 400 in reply to Australia’s first innings total of 177, but the Aussies’ batting was far from impressive as they were bundled out for 91, thereby India winning by an innings and 132 runs.
Shreyas Iyer, who had missed out the ODI series against New Zealand due to a back injury, has been declared fit, and joined the Team India squad in Delhi ahead of the second Test.
He is likely to be named in the playing XI for the second Test, replacing Suryakumar Yadav.
Veteran India batter Cheteshwar Pujara is set to play his 100th Test come Friday, with the 35-year-old set to become the 13th Indian to achieve the feat, the latest before him being Virat Kohli against Sri Lanka in March 2022.
Pujara has a commendable record against Australia, having scored 1900 runs from 21 Tests at an average of 52.77.
Coming back to the first Test, debutant Todd Murphy was the pick of Australian bowlers, scalping seven wickets, while skipper Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon picked two and one wicket each. Australia will hope for a much disciplined effort from their bowling, especially after the hosts managed to post 400 from being 229/6 at one stage in the first Test.
Teams:
India: Rohit Sharma (captain), KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, KS Bharat (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Suryakumar Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Ishan Kishan (wk).
Australia: Pat Cummins (captain), David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Alex Carey (wk), Matt Renshaw, Peter Handscombe, Nathan Lyon, Ashton Agar, Scott Boland, Lance Morris, Mitchell Swepson, Todd Murphy, Josh Hazlewood (unavailable), Cameron Green (unavailable), Mitchell Starc (from 2nd Test).
